COOPLEXITY

A model of collaboration in complexity for management in times of uncertainty and change.

In complex and interdependent environments where the individual can be overrun or depends on others to achieve its objectives, the team is the one takes over. A new approach to management becomes necessary to manage it allowing the organisation to face up to possible risks and benefit from potential opportunities and synergies.
Face up to the crisis, permanent change, uncertainty, is something more than organisations should collectively do from a team and distributed leadership point of view.
Cooplexity proposes a cooperation-collaboration model in complexity which is the result of more than ten years research and five gathering data. Three action levels are rigorously introduced, their implications, their key factors and the catalyzers that have allowed them to appear.
All the research has been carried out based on the behaviours observed in management teams interacting in Synergy, a training course that structured around a behavioural simulator takes the participants from an environment of uncertainty to one of complexity.
The reader will find in this book the guidelines to facilitate the emergence of collaborative behaviours as well as series of conclusions that challenge the traditional concepts of teamwork and leadership as they have been understood so far.

LUDIC EXECUTIVES: THE CASE
FOR PLAY IN ENTREPRENEURIAL
LEARNING DESIGN

This chapter proposes a play-based approach to executive training. The chapter argues that such an approach re-dresses some of the above imbalances and re-positions the interests of entrepreneurial and executive learners. The chapter evaluates the development of the approach to learning by using a play-based and experiential learning simulator called Synergy. Initial arguments and results are presented on why play-based designs can offer a productive response to some of the current criticisms that are levelled at executive and entrepreneurial training provision.
